Our 10 Questions for this IT Wondrous Woman.

Fun Facts

1. What’s the one thing about you that your business colleagues don’t know about you?
Probably that I’m a Harry Potter geek and currently in a knitting phase doing all types of Harry Potter inspired things.

2. Before the pandemic, how many air miles/KMs did you flying annually?
Not sure but according to my SAS membership I’ve been around the globe 7.34 times since 2003! Love to travel and it is one of the things I’ve missed the most during the pandemic.

3. What is the most adventurous food you have eaten and what city/location did you eat it?
Ostrich and alligator… the location was not very exotic as it was in Sweden. Was interesting but not something I would try again.

Your Career

4. What are the top two experiences, achievements or failures that shaped your journey as a successful leader?

  • The role as Country Manager at VMware gave me a lot of opportunity to grow as a leader, build a great network and get experience in a complex matrix organization.
  • Taking responsibility for my own development. I took a self-leadership training that helped me understand how to be a better leader but also grow as a person. Best investment I’ve done!

5. Did you have a mentor in the early part of your career and, if so, what is the biggest lesson you learned from your mentor or influencer?
I’ve had a lot of mentors that have made an impact on my career and the choices I’ve made, but the CEO at my very first job played a very important part and influenced my future career. He was a very empathic leader and showed me that you didn’t need to be intimidating in order to be a strong leader. He also believed in me when I was uncertain of my own abilities.

Walking In Your Shoes

6. What is one piece of business or career advice you would give to your younger self?
Dare to lead and empathy are great leadership skills. I would share one of my favorite sayings: Life sucks on a regular basis. It is about how you handle the challenges and what you learn from them that matters.

7. As a leader, how do you remain a resource for people early in their careers?
I engage in mentorship programs both internal and external. Mentorships are a great source of learning both for mentor and mentee. I encourage everyone to get involved in it!

Today’s Business Environment

8. What is the most interesting project you have worked on in the last few years?
The most fun I have been part of recently was starting the Nordic sustainability chapter in AWS: Educating customers, partners and employees about sustainability benefits when combining technology and innovation.

9. What skills are you currently developing or refining (in yourself) that will make you a more successful leader in the digital economy?
I love to learn! I am very hooked on self-leadership, and I follow two power women on social media with podcasts on the topic: Brené Brown and Mia Törnblom.

10. What is your greatest business challenge today?
Managing time! There is so much to do and finding the right balance between learning, listening and engaging is a continuous process. I also prioritize “me time”, which is super important, whether that is exercising, hanging out with family and friends, log off or traveling.
