Our 10 Questions for this IT Wondrous Woman.

Fun Facts

1. What’s the one thing about you that your business colleagues don’t know about you?
I won a silver medal at the Norwegian Championships in Swimming on 200 meters butterfly in my youth.

2. Before the pandemic, how many air miles/KMs did you flying annually?
Don’t really know. Didn’t travel a lot for work, but more for pleasure.

3. What is the most adventurous food you have eaten and what city/location did you eat it?
Pigs ears (I think) on a market in Singapore – that was the least “extreme” we could find.

Your Career

4. What are the top two experiences, achievements or failures that shaped your journey as a successful leader?
I still regret not handling a conflict within my team in the early stages, and rather letting it grow until I couldn’t really mend it in any sensible way. At the same time, I managed it very well with my own manager and came out in much better shape and with extremely useful experiences.

5. Did you have a mentor in the early part of your career and, if so, what is the biggest lesson you learned from your mentor or influencer?
Not really a mentor, but I will never forget feeling useless in a meeting as a novice in the firm. When I reflected on this, I was told that my inexperience was an advantage for the team. The experienced leader told me that diverse team make better decisions and create more innovative products.

Walking In Your Shoes

6. What is one piece of business or career advice you would give to your younger self?
When making choices about your career, don’t think too long into the future. The best choices are the ones made with confidence in where you are now and in the nearest future, not what could be right in five to ten years.

7. As a leader, how do you remain a resource for people early in their careers?
I listen and learn, and then I give as much positive feedback as I can.

Today’s Business Environment

8. What is the most interesting project you have worked on in the last few years?
Integrating a Tieto and EVRY in Teams. Several business cultures and also countries trying to understand each other over Teams.

9. What skills are you currently developing or refining (in yourself) that will make you a more successful leader in the digital economy?
My communication skills. Oral and written, and also the ability to engage digitally.

10. What is your greatest business challenge today?
We are setting up six new businesses in Tietoevry. My business in Software Engineering or Tietoevry Create. We need to make a global foundation for employees and customers. This is an inspiring and exciting challenge, and we have only just started the journey…
